I am a licensed professional counselor in the state of Pennsylvania and a National Certified Counselor. I have my Doctorate of Psychology in Counseling Psychology from Carlow University.
I have over 20 years experience in helping professions and have been in private practice full-time since 2014. My experience beyond private practice includes working with students at a university counseling center, working with persons with serious and persistent mental illness, individual counseling, group-counseling, and co-parenting and reconciliation counseling, and with persons with intellectual/developmental disabilities. My research and professional interests include personality, identity, sex/sexuality, and relationships. I am also full-time faculty at Penn State University, New Kensington campus where I teach clinical courses such as clinical, positive, and abnormal psychology as well as courses on culture, race, class, and gender.
My counseling approach is psychodynamic in nature; meaning that with increased insight and awareness, a client will have a greater understanding of how past experiences impact the present. This includes behaviors and relationships with others. I have also received training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy which I will at times integrate into my psychotherapeutic approach.
Each client is unique and I am committed to personalize my approach to meet the needs of each client.
